MAY IS YOUR BEST MONTH IN MINNESOTA
Spring planting is best to ensure a good start with a full growing season. May is the best time of year to plant seedlings in Minnesota, as tree seedlings should still be dormant from the past winter and also have all summer to get established before winter.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
Make sure the location you select has the right level of sunlight and moisture for your seedling species. Review species requirements for more information. And, consider the “microsite” or the exact spot selected for your seedling. How will rain, snow accumulation, wind and other factors affect the seedling in that particular location? Keep in mind, trees will grow well where they can compete well. Pay attention to what else is growing nearby which might eventually out-compete the seedling you wish to plant.
10 FEET APART!
For the best results, plant your seedlings at least ten feet apart. This ensures sufficient space that the trees will require when they are grown. Trees thrive when they have sufficient light, moisture, and nutrients, and where they can compete well. Included in our species information page is the height information and soil preferences as well.
MORE IS BETTER
The earth is losing billions more trees than are planted every year, so it’s time for us to give back. Plant trees for a greener tomorrow, and help create the forests of the future, one tree at a time.
