WHAT WE'RE ABOUT ?
Let's Plant Trees is a Minnesota-based non-profit dedicated to reforestation. We provide free tree seedlings to Minnesota property owners and support other organizations with volunteer tree planting projects. By planting more trees, we can combat climate change and mitigate the impacts of pests, wildfires, and other disturbances.

The need for reforestation is critical. With the right information and planting support, we can significantly increase tree seedling success rates. This is why we offer detailed, practical, and timely information on tree species that can thrive in a changing climate, along with guidance on when and where to plant them. Our goal is simple: let's plant more trees!

HISTORY
Founded in 2023, Let’s Plant Trees is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, based in Lutsen, Minnesota. Carrie and Mike Nicklow started Let’s Plant Trees when they decided to plant tree seedlings on their own land, and realized that it wasn’t easy to get a variety of climate-ready tree species in manageable quantities.
In 2023, Let’s Plant Trees gave away nearly 500 trees, and in 2024 Let’s Plant Trees gave away over 5,000 trees.
Our goal is to give away 15,000 trees in 2025!
OUR MISSION
We promote reforestation by empowering individuals, organizations, and communities to plant native trees. We provide FREE native tree seedlings and essential information on where and how to plant them, fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
COLLABORATION
Collaborating with local communities, businesses, and government agencies, we work to promote reforestation, share knowledge and resources, and facilitate collaborative community tree planting projects.
EMPOWERMENT
Our goal is to empower individuals, businesses, and communities to plant tree seedlings, and to foster collective action and exponential growth in our reforestation efforts.
REFORESTATION
We promote planting a diverse mix of tree seedlings and protecting trees to mitigate the impacts from fire, drought, insects, climate change, and other forest disturbances.
EDUCATION
We are committed to continuous learning, sharing knowledge, collaborating with educational institutions, and promoting best practices in tree planting and environmental stewardship.
SUSTAINABILITY
Let’s Plant Trees prioritizes sustainable practices, including the use of local, natural, and renewable materials whenever feasible. We strive to minimize our environmental footprint.
